My Work

Before 16th June 1994

I had various summer jobs which I do not bother to list here.

16th June 1994 - 14th June 1996 (Setec Oy)

I worked for Setec Oy in its IC Card Division from beginning of the summer 1994 to the beginning of the summer 1996.

My job title at Setec Oy was R&D Engineer. I mostly worked with smart card readers, especially with their software. For example, I am the main author of SETROS (Setec Reader Operating System) which is realtime multitasking operating system. An application program which runs on top of the SETROS has been evaluated and certified at ITSEC E4-level.

I also worked with device drivers (or daemons) and interface libraries for accessing smart card readers under MS-DOS, Windows 3.x, Windows NT, OS/2 and Unixes. In most cases Windows NT dependant parts were written by another person.

I was also the System Administrator of the Windows NT file and print server. The administration included planning and execution of account, backup, network, etc. management procedures.

Summer 1996 (Setec Oy)

I have continued to do some work for Setec Oy at home on my free time (weekends etc.) from my "real work" at Nokia Telecommunications Oy. This work has been related to SETROS.

Since 26th June 1996 (Nokia Telecommunications Oy)

I have been working at Nokia Telecommunications Oy since 26th June 1996.

I am making test tools used mainly by integration testers. Most of my time there goes to development of the Test Execution Language (TEL) compiler and executor of the resulted bytecode. The compiler and the executor are part of the Holistic Integration Tester (HIT) testing tool.

The future (unknown)

I am interested in compilers, interpreters, simulators, networking and security. I hope that my future jobs give me challenges in some of those areas.

I have been lucky sofar to have jobs giving lots of challenges in areas I am interested in.
